Esther F. (Pascarella) Pagano's Obituary
Esther Fannie (Pascarella) Pagano passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday July 11, 2023. She was born in Syracuse to the late Frank and Anna (Visco) Pascarella.
Esther was a lifelong resident of Syracuse and attended North High School. Esther was a devoted Catholic who put her family before herself. She loved baking, especially at Christmas time because she needed a variety of cookies for all the trays that she would deliver with her chauffeur, her loving husband, Henry. She loved to watch the cooking channel, especially Mary Ann Esposito, recipes for new cookies or dishes were always at the top of her list. She loved to sew, crochet, displaying all her Christmas cards and sending letters to people near and far. She took pride in her garden of vegetables and canning in the Fall. Esther was a confidant and friend to all; her house was a revolving door always open with a pot of coffee brewing. She spent many years organizing bus trips to NYC for the Golden Agers which always included her grandchildren. She was a proud member of the Northside community, Golden Agers, she was involved in the Columbus Day Parade, Boxing Club, Our Lady of Pompei Spaghetti Supper, and the Strawberry Festival where she won various awards.
Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Henry “Hank” Pagano; two brothers, Tony and John Pascarella; great granddaughter, Angel and daughter-in-law, Mary Anne.
Esther is survived by her five children, Mary (Michael) Fonak, Vincent (Denise) Pagano, Frank Pagano, Ann (Anthony) Palmer and Elizabeth (Anthony) Madonna; 14 grandchildren, Noelle, Ashlee, Michael, Vincent II, Vanessa, Rodney, Christine, Jennifer, Lisa, Henry, Andrew, Candace, Zachariah and Emma; 13 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, July 17, 2023, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of Esther’s life at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. Family and friends may call from 2:00 – 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Esther’s name may be made to Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church Building Fund.
