Esther J. Sindoni's Obituary
Esther J. Sindoni, 80, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully and entered into God’s hands on December 17th, 2024. She was born to Matthew and Mary Sindoni on May 19th, 1944. She grew up on the North Side of Syracuse and was extremely proud of her Italian American heritage and the church she attended. She graduated from Our Lady of Pompei Grammar School, Assumption High School and earned an associate’s degree from Bryant and Stratton College. She went to work as a bank teller for First Trust Bank, and then secured a job with Onondaga County, completing her career there working in the passport department.
Esther was devoted to her family as well as her Catholic faith. In her youth, she enjoyed acting and singing as a Pompeian Player. She prayed the rosary daily and enjoyed visiting many Catholic shrines. She loved to travel and took many wonderful and memorable trips to various states, countries and continents.
Esther was a generous and caring woman, who often placed the needs of those she loved above her own. She was the prime caretaker for both of her parents before their passing, and she was the most loving and funny mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all her loved ones, especially her daughter, son-in-law and grandson with whom she lived the last twelve years of her life.
She is predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Mary Sindoni, and is survived by her daughter, Vita Marie (Tom) Racko, her grandson, Tommy Racko, her sister, Josephine (Carmine) Federico, and her brother, Matthew Sindoni. She was a dear aunt to Dr. Carmen (Michelle) Federico and the late Joanna Federico (Chris) Cox. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Calling hours are Friday, Dec. 20th 2024 from 4:00- 6:00 pm at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd., (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY 13212. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 9:00am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY 13208, followed by entombment in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
