Eugene J. "Gene" Piston's Obituary
Eugene J. "Gene" Piston, 86, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones at the Francis House. He was born in Syracuse, NY to Mary and John Piston. Gene graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. He was an Eagle Scout, Scoutmaster, and District Commissioner. Gene enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed at a classified site and at a radar station in Iceland. He retired after 35 years of service with NY Telephone and AT&T as both craft and management. Gene married Joan M. McNeil in 1958 and had 2 sons.
Gene was predeceased by his sister, Virginia and brother-in-law, Richard Haley.
Gene is survived by his wife, Joan (McNeil) Piston; 2 sons, Mark E. (Lisa) Piston, and Edward J. (Stephanie) Piston; 5 grandchildren, Eric, Jennifer, Zachary, Kaitlin and adopted grandson, Tyler; 3 great-grandchildren; Cameron, Corey, and Kaylee; 2 nephews, Patrick and Kevin (Donna).
A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 am on Friday, August 16, 2019 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 425 Beechwood Ave, Liverpool, NY 13088. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum, Baldwinsville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Francis House, 108 Michaels Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13208 and Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088.
