Eva M. (Giarrusso) Stagnitta's Obituary
Eva Marie (Giarrusso) Stagnitta “Meem”, 98, passed away November 25, 2023 at the home of her devoted granddaughter Laura. She was surrounded by her loving family in the final days until her passing. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Anselmo and Josephine (Salvatore) Giarrusso. Eva worked as a cashier at Mario’s Big M for many years.
Eva had a love for people and kept everyone amused with her humor and fed with her cooking. Her chicken cutlets and meatballs were legendary.
Along with her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Frank J. Stagnitta in 2003; her son, Frank D. Stagnitta in 2023; two sisters, Clara and Lottie; five brothers, Dante, Mario Fred, Junie and Robert.
Eva is survived by her daughters, Diane (Paul) Dillon and Carolanne (Richard) Wendt; 8 grandchildren, David (Karla) Dillon, Laura (Shane) Murphy, Elaine (Bryan) Wight and Tom Dillon (Becca), Shani Stagnitta, Mike Wendt (Anna), Chris (Amy) Wendt, Jennifer Wendt; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Lisa Cutler and Cyndi Perry for their loving and compassionate care of Eva over the last seven years. The family would also like to thank Dr. Sharon Brangman and her staff for going above and beyond in helping us during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am on Friday, December 1, 2023 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of Eva’s life at 9:30 am at Epiphany Parish (formerly St. Joseph the Worker Church) 1001 Tulip St., Liverpool. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
