Eve M. "Diane" (Russell) Italiano's Obituary
Eve M. “Diane” (Russell) Italiano, 89, passed away Sunday at Crouse Hospital. Diane was born in Moira, NY and moved to Syracuse when she was just 16 years old. She met and married her husband Tony and together they shared their life for over 60 years. Diane showed her family what the definition of strength is. She had many challenges in her life and faced them all head on. For years along with her daughter Sindy, together were associated with Professional Horseman’s Association and traveled throughout New York State where Sindy competed in horse shows. Diane especially enjoyed the Fox Hunt Breakfast, league bowling, her travels to Florida and singing country music was one of her specialties. Although what she enjoyed the most was her family. Diane loved to cook and entertain; time spent with her family was her life.
Her accomplishments are not on paper but live in our memories forever. We are grateful in her final year to have such loving companions; Ann, Bernadette, Margaret and special appreciation to Bert. Diane was a beautiful soul that led her life on her terms. We will cherish and thank God she was our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; “Remarkable”
She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony “Tony” Italiano in 2010; son, Gregory A. Italiano in 2010 and daughter, Sindy (Italiano) Lakehomer.
Diane is survived by her daughter, Mary Sue (John) Hanus of Manlius; a son, Patsy (Nancy) Italiano II of Syracuse; 7 grandchildren, Heather (Robert) Santaro, John Hanus III, Anthony Italiano, Angelique (Brian) DeLaney, Tiffany Lakehomer, Alissa Italiano and John Eric Lakehomer; 4 great-grandchildren, Raquel Santaro; Taetum, Tyler and Taryn DeLaney; along with several nieces and nephews.
