Evelyn A. (Colman) Polge's Obituary
Kind, thoughtful, compassionate Evelyn, age 95, formerly of Syracuse, NY, passed away on March 25, 2018 at her home in Stuart, FL. While her family held her hand and had just recited the Hail Mary, ending with the words, “now and at the hour of our death” Amen, Evelyn went home to be with her Lord. She was predeceased by her first husband, Richard Faulkner, who expired in 1968. She was also predeceased by her father, Lester Arthur Colman; her mother, Lyra (Cook) Colman; sisters, Emily, Marion, Dorothy and Carolyn; brothers, Norman and Mark Colman, and several nieces and nephews.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Albert Polge of Stuart, FL; stepson, David (Jackie) Polge of Stuart, FL; stepdaughters, Kathleen (Jay) Bernhardt of Liverpool, NY and Teresa Polge of New Port Richey, FL; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She received her Registered Nursing degree from Crouse Irving Nursing Program and an Education degree from Syracuse University. Evelyn was a RN and supervisor at the Onondaga County Health Department for 25 years, retiring in 1985. She was, at one time, the president of Crouse Hospital Nurses Alumni Association and a member of the NYS Nursing Association. Evelyn enjoyed traveling, and loved to bask in the warmth of the Florida sun.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, March 30, 2018 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
