Fannie M. (Valerino) Antelmi's Obituary
Fannie M. (Valerino) Antelmi, 88, of Syracuse, passed away in her sleep at home on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Fannie was born on February 9, 1929 in Patterson, NJ. Her family later moved to Syracuse, NY when she was a little girl. She graduated from North High School in 1947. Fannie married Joseph Antelmi on September 18, 1948.
She worked at Easy Washer in Syracuse until her first child was born. Fannie helped her husband startup his insurance business at home; typing invoices, speaking with customers, etc. Fannie loved singing in her church choir at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church for 40 years; she also sang in the funeral choir. She was an avid tennis player for 40 years, playing on two leagues. Fannie was also very active in the Republican Party. She was a Committee Woman for the Town of Salina for 50 years. She enjoyed cooking and baking from scratch. Fannie always loved having people over to her home and hosted many parties over the years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Carmen and Nancy (Di Marino) Valerino; and her son, Joseph Antelmi, Jr.
Fannie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joseph Antelmi; her daughters, Rosemary Gelormini and Angela (Karl) Knittel; her son, Albert Antelmi; her grandchildren, Lisa, Michael, Mandy and Marie; great-grandchildren, Eva and Gabby; her brothers, Pat and Albert Valerino.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash Street, Syracuse, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Fannie’s life at 1:00 PM. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
