Filomena "Fay" (Cerio) Scott's Obituary
Filomena "Fay" (Cerio) Scott, 90, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Louis and Angelina (Fazio) Cerio. Fay was a longtime communicant of St. John the Baptist Church where she spent much time volunteering in the food pantry, marriage preparation and was also a Eucharistic Minister. She was very devoted to her faith, attending daily mass at the Franciscan Chapel and Dominican Monastery Chapel on Court Street. Fay was also a volunteer and ushered at the Civic Center and Landmark Theatre. She was a member of parent groups for both Christian Brothers Academy and LeMoyne College. Fay was a secretary with the Syracuse City School District for 27 years before retiring in 1989. She enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband. They were both members of Lace Dance Group. Fay's greatest joy was her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth J. Scott, Sr. in 1996; her son-in-law, George Gould in 2013; her sister, Johanna "Jen" Toscano and her brother, Frank Cerio. Fay is survived by her son, Kenneth J. (Joan) Scott, Jr. of Elbridge, NY; her daughter, Kathleen Gould of Valrico, FL.; nine grandchildren, Lisa Nichols of Florida, Jennifer (Philip) Kligman of Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Eileen (Christian) Simiele of Camillus, Maryann (Terence) Deery of Syracuse, James (Meghan) Scott of Fayetteville, Patrick Gould of Florida, Brian (Michelle) Gould of Florida, Daniel (Stacey) Scott of Marcellus and Catherine Scott of Elbridge and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:30 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:30 am in St. John the Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
