Florine G. Basile, Jr.'s Obituary
Florine G. Basile, Jr., 91, of Syracuse, passed away September 10, 2024, at Crouse Hospital. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Floretta M. (Pavia) and Florine J. Basile, Sr., and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Florine was a restauranter/entrepreneur, owning several restaurants such as Castaways in Brewerton and Thousand Island Resort.
In addition to his love for family, his greatest joy was spending time on the St. Lawrence River with many dear friends on his beloved Fish Dam Island. Florine was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and loyal friend who will be deeply missed. He had a way of making everyone around him feel special.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Joan Webb Basile in 2016.
Florine is survived by five daughters, Jeannine (Rick) Serley, Anne (Rob) Hoston, Vicky (Mike) McCullough, Tracy (Neal) Allen and Suzanne Greene; his grandchildren, Lauren and Nate Meader, Scott McCullough, Julie McCullough, Cassie and Jacob Chamoun, Matthew and Rachel Allen; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Meader and Jonah Chamoun; and his brother, Leonard Basile.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 10 am – 12 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Florine’s life at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. He will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Florine’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
