Fortunata (Morena) Musolino's Obituary
Fortunata Morena Musolino passed away peacefully at her son’s home in East Syracuse, surrounded by her loved ones, on March 16, 2020, at the age of 95.
Fortunata was born on November 5, 1924 in San Roberto, Reggio Calabria, Italy to the late Antonino and Antonia Morena. She married Vincenzo Musolino in 1947, and courageously sailed to America in 1960 with her husband and two sons. They settled in Syracuse where she worked as a seamstress at Learbury Clothing for 20 years. “Nona Nata” will forever be remembered as a woman who raised a strong family, loved to cook and garden, and was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter’s Church.
Besides her parents, Fortunata was predeceased by her husband, Vincenzo Musolino; her sister, Maria Morena; granddaughter, Angela Musolino; and daughter-in-law, Antoniette Musolino.
Fortunata is survived by her sons, Giuseppe (Rosa) and Antonino Musolino; her brother, Alessio Morena; sister, Caterina (Tita) Borrello; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many cousins in Italy, Switzerland, Canada, and Syracuse.
A private funeral service was held on Thursday, March 19, 2020 (Saint Joseph’s Day) at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by entombment at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
