Frances L. Backus' Obituary
Frances L. (Harrington) Backus, 84, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Crouse Hospital. She was born in Syracuse to the late William and Arlene (Widrick) Harrington and was a 1956 graduate of Vocational High School. Frances worked for over 30 dedicated years as an administrative assistant for Onondaga County and loved to volunteer her time at Syracuse Home. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to her family camp in Henderson Harbor and spending winters in Florida.
In addition to her parents, Frances is predeceased by her husband, Stanley in 2019, her sister, Barbara Harrington and her brother, Patrick Harrington.
She is survived by her son, Stanley S. Backus, III; her grandchildren, Stanley S. Backus, IV and Melody (Sean) Cudebec; her great-grandchildren, Teddy, Jax, and Asher; her sisters, Catherine Cicoria and Christine Palumbo; her brothers, William Harrington, and Joseph (Lisa) Harrington; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. – 12:15 P.M. followed by a funeral service in celebration of Frances’ life at 12:30 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville.
