Frances Virginia (Scripa) Burgwin's Obituary
Frances Virginia (Scripa) Burgwin, 88, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2018. Frances grew up on Park Ave in Syracuse and was a long-time communicant of St. Peter’s Church. Many will remember Frances as a crossing guard at Salem Hyde Elementary for over 40 years. Family was the most important aspect of her life; she never missed any of her children or grandchildren’s special events. Frances’ happiest moments were spent on Otisco Lake with family and friends. She found enjoyment in crafting, creating floral arrangements, and watching the Yankees with her husband.
Frances is predeceased by her husband, Gerald “Bud” Burgwin of 61 years, along with her
parents and four siblings.
She is survived by her six children, LouAnn (Jim) Darlington, Diane (George) Moon, and Michael (Julie), Steven (Karen), Jerry (Mary Sue), and Mark Burgwin; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Frances’ family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the loving and devoted caregivers, Roselyn Clere, Valentina Myagrota, and all previous caregivers, as well as Dr. Berkery, Dr. Brian Smith, and their staff.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Frances’s life will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday August 29th in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash Street, Syracuse. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, 2315 South Avenue, Syracuse. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
