Frances (Sorbello) Mallaro's Obituary
Frances (Sorbello) Mallaro, 84, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully at Crouse Hospital with her loving family by her side on Friday, September 11, 2020. She was a lifelong resident of Syracuse, born December 4, 1935 to John and Antoinette (LoCastro) Sorbello. Frances worked alongside her parents at Sorbello’s Modern Fruit Market; she took over the family business upon their death. Frances was well known for her beautiful custom-made fruit baskets for over 50 years. Frances’ “Nana” greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Nicholas A. Mallaro, Jr., and her sister, Mary Verone. Surviving to cherish her memory is a daughter, Anne (Guy) DeMascole; her son, Nicholas (Jean Marie) Mallaro; grandchildren, Pamela (Kevin) James, Stephanie (Sal) Mere, Guy (Lindsey) DeMascole, Joseph and Gianna Mallaro; great-grandchildren, Giuliana, Emilia, Guy IV, Luca, Mya, Zaynah, Addison, Lorenzo, Dominick, Danika and Alex; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her lifelong friend, MaryAnn (Patello) Vigliotti.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 from 10 – 11 am at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Frances’ life at 12 pm at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Assumption Cemetery.
