Frances S. Stirpe's Obituary
Frances Stella Stirpe, 80, passed on April 29th, 2023, at Upstate University Hospital. Frances was born to the late Anthony Mondo and Jessica Malinowski on June 24th, 1942. She grew up in Syracuse, New York. From a humble beginning, she left school early to take care of family members. Those who knew Frances know that this would be a hallmark of who she was, eventually loving and caring for her own family as well as her friends.
She is survived by her brother, Carl Gomore. She would later marry Larry (Lawrence) Stirpe in November of 1995. Frances was blessed to be survived by all her children, David Anthony Stirpe, and Anthony (Andrew) Stirpe. For a brief period, she ran a Lorenzo’s pizza shop with her beloved husband. While she lived life for her children, what brought her the greatest joy was her grandkids, Annalee (Jordan) Gristwood, Claudia Stirpe, and Gavin Rinaldi. Her granddaughter Annalee would go on to give her an amazing great grandchild, Axel Gristwood. She also adored and is survived by her dog, Maggie.
Frances was a communicant of Saint Margaret and later Saint Rose Church. A woman of great faith, Frances imbued that faith in her family, encouraging all her children and grandchildren to be empathetic, kind, and generous people. Frances was a remarkable woman, who brought together a community of extended family and friends. Amongst the many were Greg Rinaldi, Mary Azzolino, Pina Nicoletti, Jenny Godlewski, Patty Conway, Kristen Schapp, and Sandra Dirubbo, some of whom were surrounding her when she passed. Although Frances left before meeting those members of her family who have yet to join, the legacy she created will have a long and lasting impact. She will be missed everyday by so many, and she will never be forgotten.
A funeral service will be held at the THOMAS J. PIRRO, JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. Syracuse, NY 13212, at 11:30AM on Friday, May 5th celebrated by her brother-in-law, Rev. Carlo Stirpe. Entombment will follow in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum, where she will finally be at peace and laid to rest with her husband.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Upstate University Medical during these difficult times. They also extend their heartfelt staffs at both Greenpoint Assisted Living and Brookdale Summerfield.
