Frances (Calarco) Vasiloff's Obituary
Frances (Calarco) Vasiloff, 93, of Syracuse, passed away January 1, 2022, at Crouse Hospital. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Dominic and Grace (Foti) Calarco and graduated from North High School in 1946. Frances worked at Syracuse Corporation Counsel for 4 years, then took time off to raise a family. She went on to work at the Syracuse City School District as Secretary to the Principal at Henninger High School, retiring after 25 dedicated years. Frances enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She enjoyed “Games of Chance” in Atlantic City, facetiming with her great-grandchildren, Candy Crush on her iPad, and following Syracuse football and basketball.
In addition to her parents, she is also predeceased by her husband, Matt P. “James” Vasiloff; her daughter, Anne (Vasiloff) Archacki; two sons-in-law, Ernest W. Mattheis, Jr., and John F. Archacki; siblings: Ross Calarco, Patsy Calarco, and Suzanne (Calarco) Garner.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Carol V. Mattheis; her son, Peter (Marybeth) Vasiloff; grandchildren: Susan Archacki, Melanie (Andy) Salguero; John (Lindsey Cameron) Archacki, James Archacki, Christine (Matt Allyn) Mattheis, David Mattheis, Victoria Vasiloff, Alicia (Tim) McHale, and Matthew Vasiloff; great-grandchildren: Eleanor and Madeline Salguero, Rose Allyn, and Quinn McHale; brother-in-law, Allan E. Garner; along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 11 am – 1 pm, immediately followed by a Funeral Service in celebration of Frances’ life at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
