Francis Peter Cahalan's Obituary
Francis Peter Cahalan, 86, formerly of Norwich, NY, and most recently of Syracuse, went to be with his Lord and Savior, after passing peacefully surrounded by his family.
He was born in Utica, NY, son of the late Luke G. and Rose (Halpin) Cahalan. Peter graduated from St. Francis De Sales High School and Utica College of Syracuse University. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Peter was a longtime dedicated salesman for Moore Business Forms. He loved watching western films, traveling to the Adirondacks and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Above all, he was extremely devoted to the care of his wife Pat.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Michael Cahalan, James Cahalan and William Cahalan; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Cahalan and Julie Cahalan.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Dolores P. (Orlowski) Cahalan; three daughters, Mary Lou (Gregory) Monashefsky, Diane (Kurt) DeLuca and Amy (Thomas) Knight; his son, Robert (Patricia) Cahalan; 12 grandchildren, Michael, Katherine, Alexandra, and Jack Monashefsky, Joseph and Janee DeLuca, Shannon, Lauren and Anna Cahalan, Daniel, Georgia and Jillian Knight; his brother, John L. Cahalan; his sister, Mary Rose Cahalan; special sisters-in-law, Barbara Stack and Carol Orlowski; several nieces and nephews.
His family wishes to express special thanks to his two devoted caregivers, Tammy Ryans and Eileen Kitts, and also for the tremendous and compassionate care given by the 10th floor staff at Upstate Oncology Unit.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at Believers’ Chapel, 7912 Thompson Rd., Cicero, NY. Private burial will be held in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Utica, NY.
