Francis M. Galimi's Obituary
Francis M. Galimi, lovingly known as ‘One of the Galimi Twins,’ passed away peacefully at Francis House on Monday, March 25th, 2024, at the age of 84. He was a life resident of Syracuse and spent 30 years as a Metallurgical Technician for Oberdorfer Foundry. He was a talented dancer and especially enjoyed cooking for his friends and family.
Francis is predeceased by his parents, Pat and Elizabeth Galimi, and his sister, Tommasina Carfagno.
He is survived by his twin brother, Fred Galimi, his brother-in-law, Joseph Carfagno, nephews, Joseph (Kathy) Carfagno, and Steven (Claire) Carfagno, niece, Elizabeth (Gary) Nickels, and several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and faithfully donated to charitable organizations. Francis spent much of his life opening his heart and his home to others. He took pride in being a devoted brother and uncle, and never missed an opportunity to spend time with his family.
‘Unkie’ will be greatly missed, particularly by his twin. “A twin doesn’t go through life searching for their other half, they were born with it.”
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 8:15 A.M. – 10:15 A.M. at St. John the Baptist/Holy Trinity Church. A funeral Mass in celebration of Francis’ life will follow at 10:30 A.M. in the church, 406 Court St., Syracuse. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Joseph's hospital (ICU, 5D, 2nd floor) and to all those at Francis House for their angelic kindness and support throughout this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Francis’ memory may be made to the Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave. Syracuse, NY 13208.
