Francis R. "Frank" Geremski's Obituary
Francis R. “Frank” Geremski, 79, of Liverpool, passed away Saturday at Community General Hospital. He was born in Syracuse and served with the U.S. Marine Corps (1954 Salt City Platoon). Frank was a Syracuse Firefighter and retired from the Syracuse Fire Department. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning vegetables. Frank was a fan of college football, basketball and horseracing. He looked forward to weekly poker games with his marine pals. Frank loved traveling and enjoyed trips with his wife. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. Frank was the hierarchy of his family and will be greatly missed by all.
He was predeceased by his parents, Helen (Szczyt) and Mack Geremski; his grandson, Brandon Burt and two brothers, Richard and Thomas Geremski.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Frances (Fiumara) Geremski; his three children, Cheryl (Bruce) Burt of Myrtle Beach, SC; Michele (Jeff) Gorham of North Syracuse, and Frank (Lisa Halsdorf) Geremski of Cleveland, OH; five grandchildren, Monica (Billy) Hayes, Ashley (Bob) Lightaul, Jeffrey Gorham, Joshua Burt, and Helana Gorham; three great-grandchildren, Jackson and William Hayes, and Lucas Lightaul; two sisters-in-law, Theresa Geremski and Sue Geremski; an aunt, Mary Van Brocklin, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Frank’s’ family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staff at Crouse Hospital and the rehabilitation staff at Van Duyn Home and Hospital for their care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Thursday, October2, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Frank’s’ life at 10:00 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
