Francis E. "Frank" Hunt Jr.'s Obituary
Francis E. “Frank” Hunt, Jr., passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, September 24, 2021. He was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Francis Edward Hunt and Helen (Moore) Hunt Sherrill on October 6, 1954. In 1972 Francis moved to Syracuse where he attended Syracuse University, became a brother of Theta Chi Fraternity, and met the love of his life Linda (Walsh) Hunt. Frank attended Syracuse University College of Law in 1980 and after graduating, went on to work for the Corporation Counsel for many years before entering a private practice with his long-time partner, Fred O’Rourke. Francis loved practicing law almost as much as he loved his Boston sports team. An avid Red Sox fan he attended games throughout the country with his beloved children. A very loving father and grandfather he attended all their sports games and supported them in all their endeavors. He always put his family first and deeply loved his sweetheart of 44 years, Linda.
Besides his parents, Francis is predeceased by his stepfather, Woody Sherill.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Walsh) Hunt; his children, Francis E. (Danielle) Hunt III, Patrick Hunt, Elizabeth (Sam) Hunt-Procopio and James Hunt; four grandsons, Jackson, Joseph, Gino and Mikey; a brother, Joseph (Audrey) Sherill; sisters, Cathy (Michael) Kane, and Susan Sherill; as well as his nieces, Sarah and Kathryn Costello.
Calling hours will be held from 1 – 4 pm on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. A funeral mass in celebration of Frank’s life will take place at 11:30 am on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Most Holy Rosary Church, Syracuse. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
