Francis M. "Frank" Sakowski, Sr.'s Obituary
Francis M. “Frank” Sakowski, Sr., 67, of North Syracuse, NY, and Hudson, FL passed away at his home in Florida surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 2, 2014. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late Julia and Stanley Sakowski. Frank served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. He was an Assistant Warehouse Manager with Food Bank of CNY for many years. Frank enjoyed bowling and was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and camping. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Cheryl (Garni) Sakowski and his three siblings, John Sakowski, Helen Pentasuglio and Rose Gagnon.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Hazel (Lawton) Sakowski; his daughter, Michele (Jeff) McAllister of Liverpool; his son, Frank “Bo” Sakowski (Deborah Lyons) of North Syracuse; his two step-sons, Mickey Heffron (Megan Pickle) of Mattydale and Ricky Heffron of Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; his niece, Rachel Pentasuglio and his nephew, Joey Pentasuglio.
A funeral service in celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. Entombment will follow in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
