Frank P. Lamacchia's Obituary
On the afternoon of October 28th at 1:51pm Frank passed away at Bethesda General Hospital in Boynton Beach, FL as a result of complications from a stroke. He was surrounded by family and comforted by his wife of 67 years, Frances. Frank was 90 years old.
Frank was born on April 6th 1923 to Charles P. and Catherine Lamacchia (Aloi). He was the 2nd oldest of 6 siblings who grew up on Mayer St. on the north side of Syracuse. Frank was the son of an immigrant father and mother who came to this country from Italy with the hopes of a better life. Through a strong work ethic and many late nights, Frank, Tony, and Jim learned from their father the key principals of success; hard work and honesty. From these principals the Lamacchia Automobile business was born and thrived. Frank was co-founder of Lamacchia Honda in Syracuse and the founder of Lamac Unlimited Inc and Lamacchia Ford Mercury in Hornell, NY.
Frank possessed an uncanny ability to make friends with anyone, anywhere at anytime. Many times that friendship would often start off by inviting you into his office or the garage for a drink. If Frank thought you were a good person he would always be there for you, he was a friend for life. To this day there are so many people that adore him and the friend he was. He had this innate ability to make friends without sugar coating life or his opinions. He was a straight shooter and always spoke his mind, yet when he did so, he would add a slight smirk, a wink or both and the harshness of his comments although true, would some how soften.
Frank loved to play cards, especially if money was involved. He also loved fast cars, a good drink and nice boats. It was on a boat that Frank first made Frances aware of his future intention to make her his wife. That day was followed by a courtship that lasted 3 years, and a marriage on September 28th 1946 to his best friend and the love of his life.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Catherine Lamacchia and his siblings; James Lamacchia (Eleanor), Tony Lamacchia, Margaret Lillo, Josephine Crisafi (Charles) and Santa LaValle (Angelo).
Frank is survived by his wife; Frances Lamacchia (Cimilluca); his children; Catherine Lamacchia, Chuck Lamacchia (Julie), Rosanne Moen (Skip), James Lamacchia and Marion Smith; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Diane Lamacchia; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at 9 am at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10 am at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Drive Syracuse, NY.
