Frank Ventre Sr.'s Obituary
Frank Ventre, Sr., beloved father, grandfather and friend, passed away July 5, 2012 on Hilton Head Island, SC. He was 103 years old.
Born in Syracuse, NY on May 22, 1909, Frank was the third of six children born to John Ventre, Sr. and Ceseria (Paglia) Ventre. He was married 53 years to the love of his life, Mary (Dapice) Ventre, until her passing in 1988. He was a native and long-time resident of Syracuse, and a resident of Hilton Head Island since 2005. He worked more than 30 years for family owned Enrico’s Restaurant in Syracuse.
Frank lived his life to the fullest and met every day with energy and enthusiasm. A faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church on Hilton Head, he was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus in North Syracuse and in Hilton Head where he served as Grand Knight. He exercised five days a week at the Players Club fitness center on Hilton Head Island and played nine holes of golf every Tuesday. He enjoyed visiting with friends at the S.H.A.R.E Senior Center, and he was an avid life-long New York Yankees fan.
Frank was a very caring and loving person, always at peace with everyone, a loving husband, proud father and grandfather, and a steadfast friend. He is survived by his children, Frank Ventre, Jr. (Diane Lange) of Baldwinsville and Anne Marie Scarminach of Hilton Head Island; his grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Ventre, John (Alexis) Scarminach, Catherine Scarminach, John (Jamie) Ventre and Karen Scarminach; several nieces and nephews, and many extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Assumption Cemetery at the family mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. A memorial service will be held August 4, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church on Hilton Head. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Knights of Columbus Council 7289, 24 Pope Avenue, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928.
