Gary E. Rice's Obituary
Gary E. Rice, 78, of Liverpool, passed away July 14, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Clarence and Marietta Rice. Gary graduated from Blodgett Vocational High School in 1961. He was employed with K-Mart for 42 years. He was an avid SU sports fan and enjoyed classic cars. He also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and sang in local bands for many years. Gary was friendly, thoughtful, and well-liked by all, and always looked forward to his vacations in Mystic, CT. He will be truly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Barbara Lefler, Marilyn Rinkiewicz and Steve Rice.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen E. (O’Connor) Rice; two daughters, Deborah (John) Edinger and Suzanne Robinson (Mike McNamara); four grandchildren, Connor, Ryan, Morgan and Erin; two brothers, Bruce and Ricky, along with several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A Funeral service in celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 10:00 am at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, with burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
