Geertruida C. (Berkien) Poot's Obituary
Geertruida C. Poot, 79, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully with loving family by her side on February 17th. Born and raised in the Netherlands, she and her husband along with their three children moved to the United States to full fill their American dream.
Those who knew her were inspired by her positive and spiritual life lessons. She was a stained glass artist who had a passion for flowers. It was as if she had painted the landscapes with her extraordinary gardens. She loved life and all God’s creatures, great and small.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 60 years, Jacobus B. Poot; son, Rudy (Maria) Poot of Washington State; son, Robert Poot of California; daughter, Judith (Bryin) Herzig of Fayetteville; her grandchildren, Chelsea Lynn Herzig, Erica and Sara Poot, as well as her wonderful sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and many other family members in the Netherlands.
She also leaves behind her friends and neighbors in CNY as well as N. Myrtle Beach, SC where she and her husband enjoyed 20 years of retirement.
The family would like to offer their heartfelt “Thank You” to Tracey and Lydia from Options Elder Care. Your love and support will never be forgotten.
Thank you to all the amazing and special people at Hospice of CNY, especially to her nurse Jennifer Holmes and to Reverend Jana Biesanz. Your loving, caring ways helped our family through this difficult time.
We will forever honor and celebrate her life every day. A formal Celebration of Life Service will be held in the spring.
