Gene Fortino's Obituary
Gene Fortino, 69, of West Monroe, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and beloved dogs on Monday, November 10, 2025. He was born in Syracuse to the late Carmen and Margaret (Hennessey) Fortino and graduated from CNS High School. At the age of 18, Gene went to work at Crouse-Hinds where he spent most of his career. More than anything, Gene cherished time spent with family and friends and as a music lover, he especially loved serenading his wife, Cindy.
In addition to his parents, Gene is predeceased by his brothers, Carmen, Jr. and Henry Fortino.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Cindy (Bisbo) Fortino; his children, Gina (Koth) Cassavaugh and Michael (Emily) Fortino; his grandchildren, Gianna and Gavin Cassavaugh and Bradley and Zachary Fortino; along with an aunt, several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend special gratitude to Hospice of CNY for their excellent care of Gene.
