George R. Catalano's Obituary
George R. Catalano, 26, of Mattydale, passed away April 21, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 7, 1998, in Syracuse, the son of George Catalano III and Carolyn Lyons.
He was predeceased by his grandparents George Catalano Jr., Concetta Catalano, and Richard Lyons.
George found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved building and rebuilding his favorite LEGO sets, baking cookies, ice skating, watching Disney movies, and sharing meaningful time with family. George took pride in his daily routine and the comfort it brought. His happiest moments were spent floating along the lazy river at Darien Lake, boat rides on the St. Lawrence River and Owasco Lake, and earning gold medals at Special Olympics gymnastics events.
George is survived by his father, George Catalano; his mother, Carolyn Lyons; his brother, Connor Catalano; his grandmother, Elizabeth Lyons; his uncles, Peter (Mary) and Paul (Lisa) Catalano, John (Rachel) Lyons; his aunt, Elizabeth (Greg) Jones; along with many cousins.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday April 30, 2025, at St. Margaret Catholic Church, followed by a burial at Assumption Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 4 – 7 pm, at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George’s name to: CNY Gymnastics Centre.
