Gertrude M. "Trudy" Vangel's Obituary
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Trudy, our loving and devoted mother and friend.
She left us sleeping peacefully, with an abundance of love in her heart, in her 92nd year.
Trudy was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
Gertrude May was born in 1930 to Cecil and Margaret (Sauve) Hawn, she attended Vocational high school and married her devoted husband Tom in 1951.
Trudy spent her entire life in Syracuse and was office manager at Meltzer’s Auto Supply and later at Deal & Co. Florist.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Tom, and her brother Earl Hawn.
Trudy was the beloved mother of Joylene (John) Cerio of Fayettville NY, Connie Switzer (Archie) of Palm Coast, FL, and John Vangel (Debbie) of Bradenton, FL.
Proud grandmother of Jon Cerio (Sandi), Jenifer McBride (Shane), Eric Switzer, Ali Switzer, Christopher Vangel (Mel), and Danielle Horan (James); loving sister-in-law to Helen Hawn as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday in the THOMAS J. PIRRO, JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley), Syracuse, NY 13212 from 11:00 AM to Noon immediately followed by a funeral service at Noon. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Dewitt.
