Gibbs C. Foster's Obituary
Gibbs C. Foster, 82, of Collierville, TN, formerly of Baldwinsville, NY passed away Sunday June 3rd at Baptist Hospital Hospice Unit in Memphis, TN. He was a 1952 graduate of Cornell University. Gibbs served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Currituck. He retired from Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. in 1987 after 27 years of service. Gibbs was a director and president of the Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce, a director of the Baldwinsville Kiwanis Club and was elected and served as a director of Seneca Federal Savings and Loan for 16 years. His greatest passion was fishing at his cottage on Lake Opinicon at Chaffey's Lock in Ontario, Canada. His gentle and caring personality will be missed by all, but will live on in the hearts that were dear to him. He was predeceased by his son, Scott Gibbs in 1972, his sister, Sally Allen and his brother, Peter Foster. Gibbs is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, the former Marianne Rose; his daughter, Luanne (Douglas) Murdock of Collierville, TN; his loving grandchildren, Lucian, Raeganne, Loganne and Morganne Murdock; a brother, John R. Foster of Saratoga Springs, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter's Church in celebration of Gibbs' life followed by a Memorial Mass at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Donations in Gibbs' memory may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692. THOMAS J. PIRRO JR.
