Giorgina M. (Destefano) Sciuga's Obituary
Giorgina (Destefano) Sciuga, 89, of Port St. Lucie, Florida (previously Solvay, NY) passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at St. Lucie Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Giorgina was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, & friend. She grew up on the West end of Syracuse and graduated from Blodgett Vocational High School in 1952. She was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church and she and her husband were the first presenting couple for Marriage Encounter in Syracuse. She worked at Commercial Bank downton, was a key punch operator at Allied Chemical, and later Office Manager at Sciuga Custom Builders. She enjoyed spending time with family & friends, the beautiful weather of sunny Florida, visits to the casino and Bingo.
Giorgina is predeceased by her infant daughter Susan Ann, her parents Sam and Lucy (Pasco) Destefano and her siblings Joseph Destefano, Genevieve Gebhardt, & Theresa Stagnitta.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Salvatore Sciuga, Sr.; son Salvatore (Kathleen) Sciuga, Jr. of Solvay, daughter Gina (Brian) Forte of Florida and son Thomas (Ruby) Sciuga of Nebraska; Grandchildren - Brian (Stacey) Forte Jr, Dana (Mark) Bakowski, Jonathan Forte, Sal (Jessica) Sciuga III, Peter (Kristina) Forte, Thomas (Alexandra) Sciuga, Jr, Derek Gonyea, Daniella Sciuga & Cameron (Ariel) Sciuga; Great-grandchildren - Kaylee, Jessica, Jonathan Jr, Noah, Kaden, Christopher, Melania, Nicholas, Brandon, Blake, Brittany, Salvatore IV, Presley, Jaxson, & Gianna along with several nieces, nephews, & cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 9:30 A.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of Giorgina’s life at 10:30 A.M. in Saint Marianne Cope Parish – St. Cecilia Church, 1001 Woods Rd., Solvay. She will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners. Calling hours will take place on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
