Giovanna (Pagano) Brancato's Obituary
Giovanna (Pagano) Brancato, 77, of Liverpool, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 with her husband of 62 years by her bedside. She was born in Santo Pietro Casalvecchio Siculo, Sicily, daughter of the late Carmelo and Carmela (LoRe) Pagano. Giovanna came to America in 1967 with her husband and kids. She attended seamstress school in Sicily. Giovanna worked at Learbury’s as a seamstress and met many friends who later became like family “Commares”. Giovanna was well known for her “S Cookies” that she loved to share with family and friends.
She was predeceased by her son, Giovanni Antonio Brancato; brothers, Joseph Pagano, Antonio Pagano and Onofrio Pagano; her sister, Caterina Pagano; and brother-in-law, Cosimo Brancato.
Giovanna is survived by her husband, Santo Brancato; her son, Domenick Brancato; daughters, Carmela (Anthony) Maggi and Maria (Mark) Reiter; grandchildren, Anthony Maggi, Gabriella Maggi and Christopher Reiter; her brother, Santo (Terry) Pagano; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Pagano and Giovanna Brancato; nieces, Patrizia Brancato and Adriana Brancato; nephew, Joseph (Stephanie) Brancato; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins in Sicily.
Giovanna’s family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Andrew Weinberg and her homecare nurse, Sue Baum, RN for their special care of Giovanna.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Giovanna’s life at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, July 30, 2018 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
