Giovanni Di Mento 's Obituary
Giovanni Di Mento, 75, of Clay, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Spadafora, Sicily, son of the late Domenico and Tommasina (Anastasi) Di Mento. Giovanni served in the Italian Navy and emigrated to the United States in 1967. He worked as an electrician for over 25 years with IBEW Local 43. Giovanni loved soccer, fishing and motorsports. He was a longtime supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Giovanni leaves behind his devoted wife of 51 years, Carmela (Aloi) Di Mento; two sons, Dominic (Jennifer) Di Mento of Maryland and Lawrence “Enzo” Di Mento of Clay; four grandchildren, Giovanni, Celina Marie, Giancarlo and Franco Di Mento; two brothers, Filippo (Susan) Di Mento of Australia and Pasquale Di Mento of CA; two sisters, Rosaria (Gaetano) Giacobbe of Sicily and Natalina Schifino of Australia; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Giovanni’s life at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter’s Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, September 28, 2018 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
