Giovanni Mavica's Obituary
Giovanni Mavica, 85, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully Tuesday at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Randazzo Sicily Italy, the son of the late Francesco and Carmela (Rotella) Mavica. Giovanni was employed as a Tile Setter with Iorio Tile for many years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working outdoors for most of his life. Giovanni carried very strong family values and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Vincenza (Mineo) Mavica; his three sons, Frank Mavica of East Syracuse, Luigi (Diane) Mavica of Menlo Park, CA and Anthony (Frances Ann) Mavica of North Syracuse; six grandchildren, Maryanne, Laurie, Francesca, Gianluca, Anthony and Giorgio; his sister, Filippa of Australia; three brothers, Vincenzo, Giuseppe and Aldofo, all of Italy, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His family would like to thank Hospice of CNY for over two years of their support and special care of Giovanni.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Giovanni’s life will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, April 11, 2015 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME is handling funeral arrangements.
