Girolamo "Gerry" Racciatti's Obituary
Girolamo "Gerry" Racciatti, age 82, of Cicero passed away on Tuesday in St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Guilmi, Italy, he came to America in 1945 and served with the US Marine Corp. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Cicero. Gerry was employed with Niagara Mohawk, General Electric and Learbury. A well known entrepreneur, he built his own grocery store in 1954, "Racciatti's Super Market" and was the only super market on Rt 11 in Cicero at the time. Gerry and his wife then purchased Seneca Motel in 1962 and continued to build and expand businesses in Cicero. He was known as "Beer King in CNY" from 1965 to 1977 by the local beer distributors. He always had a great smile for his patrons and was a good storyteller. Gerry loved his family and strongly believed in education and following your dreams. He is survived by his loving wife, Stella (Biasi) Racciatti; 2 sons, Dante (Helen) Racciatti of Cicero and Marco Racciatti of N. Syracuse; a daughter, Elisa (William) White of Liverpool; 7 grandchildren, Mario, Carmen, Dante, Jennifer, Anthony, Mitchell and Maxwell; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 8:00 AM in the Thomas J. Pirro Funeral Home and 9:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Cicero where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 3 to 7 PM.
