Giuseppa "Josephine" (Gitto) LaMacchia's Obituary
Giuseppa “Josephine” (Gitto) LaMacchia, 91, of Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born in Italy, daughter of the late Domenico and Francesca Gitto. Josephine was a seamstress at Helmer’s Clothing Store in Downtown Syracuse. She enjoyed sewing and cooking for family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Antonio LaMacchia in 2011 and siblings, Nata Cannuli and Natale Gitto.
Josephine is survived by 4 children, Pina (Ted) Conceio, Tony (Rita) LaMacchia, Francesca (Tino) Lampuri, and Maggie (Mark) Peltz; 9 grandchildren, Mark Conceio, Anthony (Kori) LaMacchia, Paul (Katrina) Conceio, Vinnie (Kara) LaMacchia, Cristina (Sean) Fenton, Stephanie (John) Thorne, Anthony (Allison) Lampuri, Sam Lampuri, and Mark (Andrea) Peltz; 12 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Josephine’s life at 9:30 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Friday, April 6, 2018 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
