Giuseppe G. Mondo's Obituary
Giuseppe G. Mondo, 87, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was lovingly known throughout his life as Peppino, Papa, Nonno, Mr. Joe and Peppino Sarto. Giuseppe was born in Messina, Sicily, Italy, son of Antonino and Rosa Mondo and emigrated to the U.S. in 1965 with his wife and son after becoming a master tailor and suit maker. Together, he and his wife quickly established a menswear shop in Liverpool where they both worked as tailors and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Giuseppe was passionate about gardening, nature, traveling and soccer, but above all, the love of his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Maria (Lombardo) Mondo; his three children, Dr. Anthony (Angela) Mondo, Joseph Mondo and Rosemary Mondo; four grandchildren, Alexander, Julia, Gabriel and Gloria Mondo.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Giuseppe’s life will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, followed by entombment in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Friday, August 19, 2022 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
