Gloria L. (Squadrito) Orlando's Obituary
Gloria Linda (Squadrito) Orlando, 96, of Syracuse, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 19, 2024, just a few days shy of her 97th birthday. Born to the late Frank and Catherine (Merlino) Squadrito, Gloria married the love of her life Charles Orlando on July 10th, 1954, who was truly her soul mate as their love was one that romance novels could be written about. She worked at Syracuse Ladies Handbags, Sealtest and McMillan Book Company until she started a family welcoming her only child MaryAnn. Her passion was being a wife and mother. She loved cooking and baking with Italian Lemon Balls being everyone's favorite treat. Gloria touched the hearts of so many people and the outpouring of love and support from everyone is a testament to the woman she was.
In addition to her parents, Gloria is predeceased by her loving husband, Charles Orlando on September 20, 1993; her sisters, Angela Risto, Phyllis Rothmann, and Mary Longdo; her brother, Angelo Squadrito; and her cockatiel Romeo in 2005 whom she called her "little chicken".
Gloria is survived by her loving daughter, MaryAnn Orlando; her sister, Rose DiMinno; sisters-in-law, Rose (Orlando) Yaizzo- Larca, and Linda (Files) Orlando; as well as many special nieces and nephews that truly adored her and her amazing strength.
