Gloria J. Valentino's Obituary
Gloria J. (Palmer) Valentino, 74, of Liverpool, passed away on Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Syracuse to Ernest and Lillian (Burton) Palmer in 1937. Gloria attended North Syracuse schools and worked at Crouse Hinds upon graduation. She married her loving husband, Paul in 1955. Gloria stayed at home with her children until she worked as a teacher aide at Craven Crawford Elementary School. She made many lasting friendships at her job as a Bank Teller at HSBC Bank, where she retired after many years of service. Gloria loved reading and being a part of a book club with some of her dear friends. She also loved ceramics and crocheting beautiful blankets for her family. Gloria sang in the church choir at Christ the King Church years ago, music was a very important part of her life. Most of all, she loved traveling to Myrtle Beach with her husband each winter and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Gloria leaves behind a large family who will dearly miss her. She is survived by her cherished husband of 56 years, Paul Valentino; her children, Linda Detota, Maria (Tim) Straight, Lisa (Joseph) Zippi, Paul (Amanda) Valentino and Jennifer (David) Covert, 14 beloved grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, sister, Micky (Doug) Jones; brothers, Jim (Mandy) Palmer and Paul (Anne Marie) Palmer; also many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law who all loved her very much. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 9:00 AM in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY and 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, Liverpool. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ the King Church or the American Cancer Society.
