Gloria (Sielawa) VanTassel's Obituary
Gloria (Sielawa) VanTassel, 73, of Cicero, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born in Bridgeport and was raised by the late Vincent and Harriet Sielawa. Gloria worked for AT&T for nearly 30 years as a telephone operator. She was known for her phenomenal cooking and loved to frequent local casinos, taking her chances playing her favorite game, Bingo. Above all, Gloria cherished her time spent with family and friends, especially her beloved grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her son, Robert R. VanTassel, Jr. in 2015; her sister, Eileen Kowaleski, and sister-in-law, Diane Mertens.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert R. VanTassel, Sr.; a daughter, Jill (James) Quick; a son, Todd (Patty Whittecar) VanTassel; three grandchildren, Jacob Schuler and Jeremy and Julie Quick; her brother, Jerry (Lori) Sielawa; sister-in-law, Carol VanTassel, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021 from 12 – 2 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Gloria’s life at 2 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. Burial will follow in North Syracuse Cemetery.
