Grace Anne (Granito) Cappuccilli's Obituary
Grace Anne (Granito) Cappuccilli, 87, of Syracuse went to Our Lord on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from her warm and loving home where she was surrounded by her adoring family. Grace was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Innocento (Anthony) and Lucia Granito on April 11, 1928.
Grace, "GG", was the heart and soul of her family of 31, the light of their lives and a mother to everyone who knew her. Sunday dinner with family and friends became a legendary example of her selfless, giving and loving nature. Her deep faith and devotion to her family was the core of her being, leaving cherished memories and wonderful examples for all she knew and loved.
GG also treasured the lifelong friendships she formed and enjoyment she found in the time she spent golfing, bowling, playing cards, shopping and simply sharing precious moments with friends and family. She and her husband have been members of Tuscarora Golf Club for 60 years and charter members of Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida since 1985. She was a faithful servant and parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church where she was a volunteer on numerous church and school committees including the Mothers Club and the Altar and Rosary Society.
In addition to her parents, Grace was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony, Vito and Ernest; her sister, Marie and her great-granddaughter, Faith Cappuccilli Auringer.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Peter L Cappuccilli, Sr., her loving children; Peter (Marilyn) Cappuccilli, Paul (Marcia) Cappuccilli, Lucy Paris ( Anthony), Lisa Smith (Jack), 9 grandchildren; Marnie (Steve), Molly (Kurt), Megan (James), Matthew, Michael, Anthony (Lisa), Peter, David and Lucas, great grandchildren; Steven, Sydney, Peter, Grace, Sammy, Schuyler and Giada, her brother, Vincent Granito, sister, Anne (Lee) Crowe, granddogs, Luna and Posada and many wonderful in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Her family is especially grateful to the capable and caring staff of Crouse Hospital and in particular the cardiac floor and doctors, Berkery, DiFino and Todd.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Funeral Mass in celebration of Grace’s life at 12:00 pm (noon) on Friday, May 22, 2015 at St. Charles/St. Ann’s Parish at St. Charles Church, 501 S. Orchard Road, Syracuse, NY 13219. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Dewitt.
