Grace Ianno's Obituary
Grace (Calabro) Ianno, 78, of North Syracuse, passed away Monday in St. Jospeph's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Gallico Reggio Calabria, Italy, she arrived the USA in 1967. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Anthony Ianno in 2011; brothers, Natale Calabro and Vincenzo Calabro and nephews, Francesco Sorlette and Giovanni Calabro of Italy. Grace and her husband owned Tony and Grace's Farmstand on Rte. 31 and Rte. 57 until their retirement. Grace was an accomplished seamstress and made many beautiful garments for her family. Grace was an avid cook and her food was loved by many. Her main passion was her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her children, Pasqualina "Patti" (Ron) VanTassel of Cicero, Domenick (Tawnya) Ianno of Liverpool and Caterina "Cathie" (Stephen) Whitacre of North Syracuse; her nine grandchildren, Anthony James Ianno, Alex VanTassel, Jacob and Jeremy Ianno, Christian Whitacre, Christopher and Domenick Jr. Ianno, Kellen Whitacre and Natalina VanTassel; her sister, Carmella Sorlette and brother, Luigi Calabro, both of Italy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lee and Joe Mento, Celestine Spinella, Victor and Cecile Ianno and Angela and Dom Frontale. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:00 am Friday in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Per her wishes, contributions may be made to the Ianno grandchildren education fund, c/o Domenick Ianno, 7793 Braniff Circle, Cicero, NY 13039.
