Grace J. (Farrugia) Walters' Obituary
Grace J. (Farrugia) Walters, 91, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Upstate University Hospital. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Laurent Farrugia and Stella (D’Alfo) Farrugia. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Walters in 1993; her sister, Matilda DeLucas and great-grandchild, Tyler Schaffner.
Grace graduated from Syracuse Vocational school. She was a long-time employee of General Electric and Dey Brothers department store. She then spent her time as a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, watching both Syracuse basketball and football games, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Grace is survived by three daughters, Debbie (Douglas) Costello of Cicero, Linda (Tom) Smach of Manlius, Judy (Joe) Brigandi of N. Syracuse, and her son, Steve (Shelli) Walters of N. Syracuse; ten grandchildren, Traci Schaffner (Andy), Tom Orlando, Patrick Brigandi, Amy Manchee (Zach), Kristie Brigandi, Kelly Brigandi, Ryan Smach, Rachelle Walters, Taylor Smach, and Janelle Walters; and six great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Schaffner, Jason Schaffner, Braden Schaffner, Jasmine Orlando, Cash Orlando, and Cruz Orlando. Grace is also survived by her brother, Joseph (Jane) Farrugia of Elbridge and Cross Lake, NY, along with many nieces and nephews.
A private service was held on March 18, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME.
