Grecia Reyes' Obituary
Grecia Reyes, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2024 at St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albany. She was born in Salinas, Puerto Rico to the late Santos and Altagracia (Paredes) Palermo and was raised and educated in Puerto Rico before moving to Brooklyn at the age of 14. Grecia relocated to Syracuse in 1992 to be with her son, Robert and where she since resided until her stay at St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation. She loved games of chance and often played scratch-offs and the lottery.
She is predeceased by her husband, Luis Reyes; her children, Luis Reyes, Jr., Olga Reyes, Angel Reyes, Miriam Reyes Powell. Henry Reyes, and David Reyes; her grandson, David Emanuel Reyes; her siblings, Elida Palermo Sanchez, Efrain Palermo, and Sylvia Palermo Catal; her nephew, Raymond Sanchez; and her niece, Diane Palermo.
Grecia is survived by her son, Robert Reyes; her grandchildren, Tamika Nilda Reyes Estrella, Angela Reyes Harris, Robert Reyes, Lemario Reyes, Reyana Reyes, Jesse Powell, Brandon Reyes, Terell Reyes; her great-grandchildren, Shylatron Estrella, Samuel Nicolas Estrella, Jr., Desia Jones Harris, Savoiya Harris, Laila Harris, Natalia Reyes, William Reyes, Lemario Reyes, Liam Bryson, Nori Rey, Lemario Reyes, Jr., Mariah Reyes, Liangelo Reyes, Bobby Shilo Reyes, Ozjenique Powell, Ozmere Powell, and Christian Powell; along with her nieces and nephews, Anatheresa Palermo, Efrain Palermo, Jr., Arlene Palermo Rodriguez, Nancy Palermo, Maggie Reyes Overton, and Sylvia Catal.
An hour of visitation will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 11:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. followed by a funeral service in celebration of Grecia’s life at 12:30 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
