Gregory J. Spuches, Sr.'s Obituary
Gregory “Gregg” J. Spuches, Sr., 88, of North Syracuse, NY, a prominent member of business at the Regional Market for many decades, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Central Park Rehabilitation, Syracuse, NY. Gregg was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in North Syracuse, NY. A North Syracuse native and son of the late Giuseppina “Josephine” (née Tornabene) Spuches and Egidio “James” Spuches. During his youth he worked on his father’s farm along with his twelve brothers and sisters and later for Russo Produce at the Central New York Regional Market. He founded Gregg’s Produce Co., Inc. in 1977 and operated it until he retired in 2002. Throughout his life he gave selflessly to his wife and children, always ready when a car repair or home improvement was needed.
Gregg is predeceased by his loving wife, Rose Marie (née Carrozzio) Spuches.
Gregg is survived by his children; Deborah (Andrew) Galloway of Cincinnati, Ohio, Charles (Judy) Williams of Constantia, NY, Edwin (Colleen) Williams of Remsen, NY, Cheryl Barnes of Layton, Utah, Gregory (Deborah) Spuches, Jr. of Wethersfield, CT, Rose Marie Glenn of Cicero, NY, and Stephanie (Richard) Austin of Baldwinsville, NY, his brothers; Sam (Rose) Spuches of Liverpool, NY, and John Spuches of North Syracuse, NY, sisters; Mary Cavallaro of Liverpool, NY, and Margie Spuches of Syracuse, NY. He will be greatly missed by the ones blessed to have called him Grandpa; his 25 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 409 S. Main Street, North Syracuse, followed by entombment at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road, North Syracuse (Corner of Buckley Road) on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
