Guerino "Bill" Tassone's Obituary
Guerino “Bill” Tassone, 90, of Canastota, NY, passed away at Oneida Healthcare on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. He was born in Italy and came to the United States at the age of 7. Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII. In 1958 he founded Bill’s Bakery on Burnet Avenue, retiring as a Baker at 62 years old in 1990. Bill was a member of Floyd Horseshoe Club; he enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed gardening and playing golf. Bill embraced and lived life to the fullest any chance he could.
He was predeceased by his parents, Saverio and Anna Tassone and eight siblings.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Margaret “Peggy” (Nurney) Tassone; six children, Vincent (Nancy) Tassone of Auburn, Steven (Sharle) Tassone of Canastota, Penny (Thomas) Wilson of Massena, Sharon Briseno of Weedsport, Morris Perry of Canastota and Karen Perry of PA; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Bill’s life at 11:00 am at St. Agatha’s Church in Canastota. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 -7:00 pm on Monday, November 12, 2018 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
