Haralambos "Harry" Katholos' Obituary
Haralambos “Harry” Katholos, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. He was born October 29, 1929 in Tripi, Greece, son of the late George and Katherine Katholos. Harry moved to the United States in 1963 and became a member of St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church. He worked many jobs to support his family before opening Harry’s Restaurant on Warren Street. Harry loved traveling back to Greece in the summers and spending time with his grandchildren, he will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Patrica Vasilades.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of 50+ years, Stavroula Katholos; three daughters, Elaine (Jeffrey) Katholos-Jungsten, Katherine Turner and Georgia (Thomas) Queri; grandchildren, Brandon Haralambos Turner, Victoria Turner, Olivia Queri and Anthony Joseph Queri; his brother, Nick (Kalliopi) Katholos; sisters, Dina Gianopoulos and Maria Iuanow; many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Harry’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, February 22, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
