Hector J. Vergara's Obituary
Hector J. Vergara, 78, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Hector was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico to the late Emilio and Francisca (Rodriguez) Vergara. A true craftsman by nature, he worked for many years as a self-employed carpenter and took a lot of pride in his garden. Hector also enjoyed going fishing and dominoes. He was an avid NY Yankees fan and loved to entertain others with his guitar playing.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Awilda in 2013, and his siblings, Carmen Bires, Enrique Vergara, and Jose (Tato) Vergara.
Hector is survived by his children, Hector J. (Bobbi) Vergara, Jr., Anthony (Laurie) Vergara, Nereida (Nelson) Sanchez, Frank (Ines) Diaz, Jerry Trujillo, and Rodney (Aida) Trujillo; his 15 grandchildren; his brothers, Raul Vergara, and Flor Jose Rodriguez; his adoptive mother, Andrea Velasquez; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Hector’s life at 6:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse.
A memorial service will take place in Puerto Rico at a later date.
