Helen M. "Gigi" (Trenga) Albino's Obituary
Helen M. “Gigi” (Trenga) Albino, 86, of Syracuse, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Monday, October 27, 2014. She was born in Binghamton, NY, the daughter of the late Jenny (Cilaberti) and Joseph Trenga. Helen was a graduate of Norwich High School and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse for over 20 years at Van Duyn Home and Hospital. Helen was a member of St. Peter’s Young at Heart Club and Women’s Society. She enjoyed crocheting and crafts, but most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael C. Albino and her sister, Ruth Lindquist.
Helen is survived by her two daughters, Karen M. (Michael J.) Albino, Sr. of Syracuse and Sandra (Joe Scott) Buck of Central Square; her adopted daughter and loving caregiver, Anna Bosco; eight grandchildren, Michael J. Jr., Rebecca (Matthew), Teresa, Joseph, Gary, Monica, Stephanie, and Jacob; seven great-grandchildren, Ciara, Vincent, Angellina, Gianna, Charlotte, Piper and Gordon; her brother, Robert Trenga of Fayetteville, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Helen’s family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Augustine, Dr. Churchill and Dr. Murthy for their wonderful care and support. Her family would also like to thank the nurses on 2-8 and the 3rd floor Oncology nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital for all of their kind and compassionate care. A special thank you to Helen’s Home Health Aide, Susan and all of the friends and family that were there for her at this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 am on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Helen’s life at 9:00 am in St. Daniel’s Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
