Helene C. (Franck) Schioppa's Obituary
Helene C. Schioppa, 92, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 01, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital with her loving family by her side. Helene was born overseas in Belgium, the daughter of Leon and Elisa Franck. She survived the occupation of Germany in her home land during World War II. At that time, she met and fell in love with the love of her life, an American GI, Peter. They were married and she became a War Bride having to leave her very large family of 8 brothers and sisters, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Peter and Helene were happily married for 69 years when he passed in 2015. Together they enjoyed traveling back to Belgium to be with her family, also traveling to many countries such as Paris, Holland, Spain, Amsterdam & Germany. Here in the United States they often traveled to Las Vegas, Hawaii, Florida, the islands off Florida and summer trips to Lake George. Helene still spoke with her beautiful French accent. Helene cherished her family, her daughter, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
Helene is survived by her beloved daughter, Christine (Theodore) Donovan; her cherished grandsons, David (Cassandra) Donovan and Joseph Donovan; her beautiful great-granddaughters, Julia and Sophia Donovan; one sister, Yvette in Belgium and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Margaret’s Church, Mattydale. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, February 4, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
