Henrietta (DeStefano) Melfi's Obituary
Henrietta (DeStefano) Melfi, 91, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully Friday, June 5, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born in Syracuse, the daughter of the late John and Stella DeStefano. Henrietta was an avid bowler and was a “Queen of the Hill” on the Syracuse Bowls TV show. She enjoyed crocheting beautiful gifts for family and friends. Henrietta was President of the Salina Seniors and was the hostess at the Trivet House for many years after retiring from the Liverpool School District. Spending time with her family was what she treasured most. For those who knew her, she truly was the life of the party. Henrietta was deeply loved and will be missed dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Joseph J. Melfi, Sr. in 2012 and her sons, Vito, Steven (Linda) and Joseph Jr.
Henrietta is survived by her son, John (Sharon) Melfi of Cicero; daughter-in-law, Virginia Fowler-Melfi; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Albanese and Donna Melfi; 12 grandchildren, Jim, Patty, Gina, Rick, Johnny, Steven, Erika, Nikki, Brandon, Anna, Laura and Vito; 15 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jake, Taylor, Cole, Mikael Ann, Kyra, Nate, Joey, Lexi, Nicholas, Justin, Riley, Crew, Ayra, and Madden; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Henrietta’s life at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
