Igea (Stucchi) Papa's Obituary
Our beautiful mother, Igea (Stucchi) Papa, has left us and our hearts are broken. She passed away on March 22, 2020 in Pescara, Italy after a hard-fought battle against many health issues. Igea was born in Campli, Italy and emigrated to the United States at the age of 16. After moving to the U.S., Igea got to know her cousins, the Viti’s, of Frankfort, NY. She adored them, and riding around town in her uncle Check’s station wagon with him and his 12 children was one of her fondest memories. She married her husband, Lucio, in Utica, NY at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church and went on to have three wonderful children who love her dearly. Igea was selflessly devoted to her family, always taking care of her husband, Lucio, and imparting much wisdom and common- sense to her three children. She had lots of energy, always entertaining and cooking wonderful food for family and friends; those small hands sure made some huge meals!
Igea was predeceased by her beloved mother, Linda Stucchi.
She leaves behind her adoring husband of 64 years, Lucio Papa; three children, Norma (Ron) Fiorentino, Sr., of Clay, John (Ann) Papa, of Cazenovia and Harold Papa, of Clay; 10 grandchildren; her brother, Victor Stucchi and his wife, Barbara, who was like a sister to her; her aunt, Assunta and family; along with cousins, the Viti’s, of Frankfort; many nieces, nephews and friends in Italy.
Igea’s family would like to extend a tremendous thank you to all who have been there for us during this difficult time and all those who helped care for mom in Italy, especially her cousins, Nicoletta Polisena and Antoinetta Salamida. God’s blessings to all of you and please tell your mothers you love them every day!
Funeral services in celebration of Igea’s life will take place at the convenience of the family.
